HC Deb 23 April 1996 vol 276 c131W
13. Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what percentage of pensioners' gross income in the north-west comes from(a) benefits, (b) occupational pensions and (c) investments for the most recent years for which figures are available. [24681]

Mr. Heald

For the United Kingdom as a whole, 53 per cent. of pensioners' average incomes is from state benefits, 25 per cent. from occupational pensions and 16 per cent. from investment income.

It is not possible to provide a reliable breakdown by region due to the limited sample size.
