Mr. Livingstone

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department when the chief inspector of magistrates courts services last conducted an inspection into the efficiency of the Brent court; when the court will next be inspected; and what assessment he has made of the efficiency of the Brent court. [25161]

Mr. Jonathan Evans

The magistrates courts service inspectorate was established in January 1993 with the appointment of the chief inspector, Mrs. Rosemary Melling, to inspect and report on the administration and organisation of all the 100 magistrates courts committees. The inspectorate is still carrying out its first inspection cycle. The inspection of the Brent MCC area is due to take place in November 1996. The subsequent inspection report will be published no later than May 1997.
