HC Deb 16 April 1996 vol 275 c397W
Mr. Pike

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what is the current number of places available for after-school care; and what plans she has to increase aid provision. [24877]

Mrs. Gillan

Since the out-of-school child care initiative started in April 1993, 57,145 places have been created in England up to the end of February 1996. Further funding of £12.5 million has been made available to extend the initiative for a further three years from April 1996.
