To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when members of Her Majesty's Opposition will be able to meet officially with civil servants in his Department to discuss implementation of policies after the next general election; and if he will make a statement. [39616]

My right hon. friend the Prime Minister agreed with the then Leader of the Opposition in 1992 that such contacts should be permitted from early 1996.
