§ Mr. Raymond S. RobertsonInformation on budgets for the new 1995–96 academic session is not collected or available centrally. Higher education institutions are free to determine the allocations they make for support services from the various resources—including Scottish Higher Education Funding Council grants and tuition fees—they receive for teaching and research.
Student numbers and staffing for the new academic session are also not yet known. Our expenditure plans for 1995–96—as set out in the departmental report "Serving Scotland's Needs" (Cm 2814)—assumed 118,000 full-time equivalent students at HEIs funded by SHEFC.
Information on actual expenditure and numbers of students and staff will be published in due course.
