To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many GPs currently operate a fundholding budget; how many patients and how much money is involved; and if he will make a statement. [38646]

More than 10,400 general practitioners in England are currently fundholders. They serve more than 20 million patients—41 per cent. of the population—and control £3.4 billion of national health service resources.
