Mr. Michael Forsyth

Of those former Members of Parliament who ceased to be Members of the House in 1987 and 1992, one currently holds appointment on a body for which my Department has responsibility. This is Lord Ewing of Kirkford who was appointed as a non-executive director of the Kirkcaldy Acute Hospitals NHS trust on 7 January 1994. He is appointed until 30 November 1997 and his salary is £5,000 per annum. I have also announced the appointment of Mr. Dick Douglas, as chairman designate of the Scottish Water and Sewerage Customers Council. His salary will be £15,000 per annum. The information held centrally by my Department does not show whether appointees were Members of this House during earlier Parliaments nor does it show appointments for earlier years; this could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
