The Earl of Crawford and Balcarres is chairman of the board of trustees National library of Scotland; he was appointed to the board on 1 January 1986 and his appointment is for life. Lord Cameron of Lochbroom is chairman of the Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland, with an appointment running from 1 April 1995 to 31 March 2000, and a member of the Scottish Records Advisory Council, with an appointment running from 1 August 1993 to 31 July 1996. Lord Goold is a member of the Scottish Hospital Endowment Research trust; his appointment runs from 1 April 1990 to 31 March 1996. Lord Macfarlane of Bearsden is a member of the board of trustees of the National Galleries of Scotland; his appointment runs from 1 April 1994 to 31 March 1997.None of the appointments is salaried or fee paid. § Mr. Michael ForsythOf those former Members of Parliament who ceased to be Members of the House in 1987 and 1992, one currently holds appointment on a body for which my Department has responsibility. This is Lord Ewing of Kirkford who was appointed as a non-executive director of the Kirkcaldy Acute Hospitals NHS trust on 7 January 1994. He is appointed until 30 November 1997 and his salary is £5,000 per annum. I have also announced the appointment of Mr. Dick Douglas, as chairman designate of the Scottish Water and Sewerage Customers Council. His salary will be £15,000 per annum. The information held centrally by my Department does not show whether appointees were Members of this House during earlier Parliaments nor does it show appointments for earlier years; this could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
