HC Deb 30 October 1995 vol 265 c49W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what consideration her Department is giving to listing the school where Ernest Bevin was educated at Winsford, Somerset; and if she will make a statement. [39080]

Mr. Sproat

There is no proposal for the listing of any school in Winsford under consideration within my Department at the present time. However, if the hon. Member could provide photographs and location plan of the school where Ernest Bevin was educated, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State will ask her advisers at English Heritage for an assessment of whether it is of special architectural or historic interest. As the hon. Member may be aware, Bevins house, Winsford, the birthplace of Ernest Bevin, is already listed in grade II.
