§ Sir Nicholas BonsorSince that resolution in 1991, the United Kingdom has deployed up to 9,000 troops in Bosnia, contributed more than £275.5 million in humanitarian aid and played a leading role in trying to reach a comprehensive settlement to the conflict there.

§ Sir Nicholas BonsorThe United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees estimates that approximately 11,000 refugees moved from sector west into northern Bosnia following the Croation military offensive in May. In August, approximately 200,000 Croation Serbs fled from sectors north and south and some 25,000 Bosnian Muslims left the Bihac pocket for Croatia. We have contributed more than £2 million in grants through62W non-governmental organisations—Oxfam, Save the Children and the British Red Cross—to meet emergency needs of these refugees, as part of comprehensive assistance programme co-ordinated by UNHCR.
