How many specialist doctors and consultants are retained on a consultancy basis in each of the Armed Services.

In addition to the military and civilian specialist doctors and consultants directly employed by my department, a number of civilian doctors are appointed as honorary consultants to the Armed Forces. These appointments are generally unpaid, other than for travel expenses. The number of honorary consultants by Service is as follows:
