HC Deb 27 October 1995 vol 264 c875W
Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what was the outcome of the recent talks in Washington aimed at clarifying US airline access to Heathrow. [39759]

Mr. Norris

A very limited and balanced deal on new transatlantic services at Heathrow and/or Gatwick was one of the items on the agenda for discussion. Despite a UK offer of four new opportunities for passenger flights to London, two at Heathrow arid two at Gatwick, the US broke off negotiations on 20 October. We stand ready to resume them as soon as the US Government wish to do so.
