HC Deb 27 October 1995 vol 264 cc858-9W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list, by regional health authority and by name, the number of district health commissions currently in operation; what are their management statements; and what is the estimated annual cost of each one. [38979]

Mr. Malone

Health commissions exist only as management arrangements to promote joint working between authorities, and have not separate existence. In all cases, the statutory bodies—district health authorities and family health services authorities—remain the accountable authorities.

Details of the management structures of health authorities are not held centrally. Information on the costs of health authorities and family health services authorities will be published shortly.
