HC Deb 27 October 1995 vol 264 c852W
Mr. Congdon

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what changes she proposes to make to her Department's cash limits for 1995–96. [40636]

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

Subject to parliamentary approval of the necessary supplementary estimates, the cash limit for class XI, vote 1 will be increased by £23,776,000 from £993,273,000 to £1,017,049,000. This is to increase provision for assets accepted in lieu of tax, for the British library St. Pancras project and for compensation payments in respect of the concessionary television licence scheme. The increase will be met partly by recovery of overpayment of compensation payments made in previous years under the concessionary television licence scheme, by a reduction in the capital provision for the Historic Royal Palaces agency, from savings on provision made for commemorations to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of world war 2, and by a charge to the reserve. The increase will not therefore add to the planned total of public expenditure.
