HC Deb 25 October 1995 vol 264 cc661-2W
Mr. Beggs

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what has been the total costs incurred by the Department of the Environment (NI) in respect of public inquiries regarding Carrickfergus harbour, Country Antrim, to date; and if he will make a statement on the future development of Carrickfergus harbour, and adjacent land. [38721]

Mr. Moss

Information on the cost to the Department of the Environment (NI) of public inquiries regarding Carrickfergus harbour is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

Carrickfergus harbour is in the ownership of Carrickfergus borough council, which is responsible for its future development.

The Department of the Environment (NI) and the borough council have formed a partnership to re-develop land adjacent to Carrickfergus harbour for housing, retail, commercial and other uses and are currently negotiating with a potential developer for the site.
