§ Mr. KirkwoodTo ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will list by region the European Union grants(a) available to and (b) taken up by each region of the United Kingdom; how much each is or was worth; and if he will make a statement. [37824]
§ Mr. Oppenheim[holding answer 23 October 1995]: Not all European Union grants are allocated by region. The amounts allocated to the United Kingdom under the three regional objectives of the structural funds, 1, 2 and 5b, are shown in the table. Almost 100 per cent. of the 1989 to 1993 allocations were committed to projects in the regions concerned.
