HC Deb 25 October 1995 vol 264 c674W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what assistance her Department is giving in saving for the nation Charles Darwin's home, Downe house, at Downe, Kent; and if she will make a statement. [39072]

Mr. Sproat

My Department is providing grant-in-aid of £28.7 million in 1995–96 to the natural history museum, which took over the administration of Downe house in 1993. Decisions on how to spend this money are a matter for the trustees of the museum.
