asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will publish in the Official Report a table showing the total number of abortions according to grounds and gestational age for each of the last two years for which figures are available for (a) England and Wales, (b) the West Country and (c) Cornwall.

The numbers of abortions performed in 1992 in England and Wales by gestational age for residents of England and Wales, South Western Regional Health Authority (RHA) and Cornwall and Isles of Scilly District Health Authority (DHA) are published inAbortion statistics 1992 (OPCS Series AB no. 19, Table 24c), a copy of which is available in the Library. The corresponding figures for 1993 are given in Table 1.

For reasons of confidentiality, information on statutory grounds is published only down to the RHA level. The numbers of abortions performed in 1992 in England and Wales by statutory grounds for residents of England and Wales and South Western RHA are published in Abortion statistics 1992 (OPCS Series AB no. 19, Table 22), a copy of which is also available in the Library. The corresponding figures for 1993 are given in Table 2.
