To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many school leavers there were in each of the past five years from maintained and independent sectors; and what percentage in each category were intending to enter degree or teacher training courses. [38901]

Information on school leavers is no longer collected by the Department. The numbers of school leavers in maintained and independent sector schools in England for the latest two years for which information was available are as follows:
