HC Deb 24 October 1995 vol 264 c555W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what legislation requires private businesses to inform their customers how they use a product once a transaction has been completed; and if he will make a statement. [39052]

Mr. Jonathan Evans

If a consumer wishes to put a product to some unusual use he should seek advice from the trader. The trader should then indicate whether it will be reasonably fit for the purpose or make it clear if he is not confident on the point. There is no legislation which requires private businesses to inform their customers how they should use a product.
