asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will set out the "equal opportunities questions" to which the Presidency Conclusions of the European Council at Cannes referred (alongside the "fight against unemployment") as "the most important task facing the European Union and its member states".

The Cannes European Council Conclusions did not refer to any specific equal opportunities questions. The European Commission has proposed a Fourth Action Programme of Equal Opportunities for women and men, to run for the period 1996–2000, and details of this proposal are still under discussion.
