HL Deb 19 October 1995 vol 566 c100WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will examine the serious deterioration, especially to wheelchair users, in service to the disabled provided by the London Taxicard system since a single company has been granted a monopoly over most of London, and whether they will recommend the restoration of competition.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Viscount Goschen)

The London Taxicard scheme is administered on behalf of those London Boroughs which participate in it through the London Accessible Transport Unit (LATU). The letting of the contract for the scheme, and the standards of service provided under the contract, are matters for LATU.
