To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement about changes in compensation to victims of violent crime. [36588]

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Bill currently before Parliament provides the framework for an enhanced tariff scheme under which the compensation payable annually to victims should rise from £175 million to £260 million over the next five years. The scheme will continue to be the most generous in the world.
