Whether it is the case that the economy of the United Kingdom has enjoyed increased investment of only 15 per cent. over the last 20 years or so, and if so how membership of the European Communities can be said to have been of benefit.

The most comprehensive measure of investment, whole economy gross domestic fixed capital formation, grew by 37 per cent. in real terms between 1974 and 1994.
