HC Deb 16 October 1995 vol 264 cc91-2W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport pursuant to his proposed sale of the railway safety centre of the British Railways Board at Derby, who will determine the minimum price at which it will be sold; on what criteria such a decision will be reached; and on what basis a privatised unit will charge when asked for information, advice, or services, (a) urgently and (b) otherwise, by those responsible for (i) operations, (ii) other parts of the national railtrack, train services and stations and (iii) other activity relevant to the safety of staff or public. [37356]

Mr. Watts

BR is selling quality and safety services by means of competitive tender and in pursuance of the Secretary of State's objectives set out in section 113 of the Railways Act 1993. Charging arrangements after sale completion will, as now, be a commercial matter for the business and its customers.
