HC Deb 16 October 1995 vol 264 c169W
19. Mr. Whittingdale

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what measures her Department is taking to attract film makers to make films in Britain. [35917]

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

My Department funds the British Film Commission, which actively markets to overseas producers, the United Kingdom's considerable wealth and diversity of locations, facilities and industry expertise.

28. Mr. Simon Coombs

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what representations she has received on the Government's review of the film industry. [35926]

Mrs. Bottomley

Since publication of the Government's policy paper on the British film industry in June, I have received seven representations from various members of the British film industry. On the whole these have given a very positive response to the paper, generally welcoming the various initiatives we announced.
