HC Deb 30 November 1995 vol 267 c800W
Mr. Thomason

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what account he will take of the cost to environmental technology manufacturers in terms of lost business and the international competitiveness of the four year revision of all chief inspectors guidance notes and process guidance notes. [3112]

Mr. Clappison

Manufacturers of environmental technology have benefited significantly from the introduction of the systems of integrated pollution control and air pollution control under part I of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The chief inspector's guidance notes and process guidance notes are produced as part of the process of following developments in technology and techniques for preventing or reducing pollution of the environment required by the Act. They are reviewed at least every four years. The Environmental Industries Commission is consulted as part of this review process.
