HC Deb 29 November 1995 vol 267 c738W
Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what would be the impact on the bilateral aid programme over each of the next three years of reductions of(a) 1 per cent. (b) 5 per cent. (c) 10 per cent. and (d) 12 per cent., levels in the overall aid programme. [1591]

Mr. Hanley

It is not possible to answer this question precisely, since there is some scope to modify certain categories of multilateral spending such as contributions to new multilateral replenishments or voluntary contributions to United Nations or Commonwealth bodies.

Mr. Sheerman

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has received from voluntary organisations regarding the United Kingdom's bilateral aid programme in the last year. [2118]

Mr. Hanley

In the last year, my noble Friend the Minister for Overseas Development and her officials have had frequent contact with voluntary organisations and non-governmental organisations. This dialogue covers a wide range of issues, including the United Kingdom's bilateral aid programme.
