To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many chaplains are currently appointed in the TAVR; to which regiments they are attached; which denominations they represent; and if he will make a statement. [2872]

There are at present 103 serving TA chaplains with three more in the process of being recruited.

The 103 serving TA chaplains are deployed as follows:

  • 6 with Royal Armoured Corps Units.
  • 8 with Royal Artillery Units.
  • 6 with Royal Engineers Units.
  • 9 with Royal Signals Units.
  • 26 with Infantry Units.
  • 6 with Royal Logistics Corps Units.
  • 31 with Army Medical Services Units.

There are a further 11 chaplains serving with minor units.

The denominational split of the 103 chaplains currently serving with the TA is as follows:
