HC Deb 28 November 1995 vol 267 c555W
Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make it his policy to stop the burning of secondary liquid fuel in cement kilns where there is persistent plume grounding. [1985]

Mr. Clappison

No. The Environmental Protection Act 1990 already provides sufficient controls for each site to be judged on its own merit.

Mr. Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (Mr. Atkins) if the letter sent by the right hon. Member for South Ribble (Mr. Atkins) to the hon. Member for Denton and Reddish (Mr. Bennett) on 13 June constituted the Government's reply to the second report of the Environment Committee on the Burning of Secondary Liquid Fuel in Cement Kilns (HC 479) of session 1994–95. [1987]

Mr. Clappison

The letter contained initial comments and indicated that the Government would be considering and responding fully to the committee's report.
