HC Deb 28 November 1995 vol 267 c675W
Mr. Kilfoyle

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what research her Department has commissioned into the impact on children's(a) learning, (b) health, (c) safety and (d) discipline, arising from the proposed changes to the Education (School Premises) Regulations 1981. [2715]

Mrs. Gillan

The Education (School Premises) Regulations 1981 were reviewed by officials and professional advisers in the Department and the Welsh Office. The views of LEAs, school governors, teachers' association and voluntary bodies were sought.

The changes to the regulations we are considering will safeguard the health and safety of pupils. We do not believe that the changes will have any effect on learning and discipline in schools.
