Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the temporary Director General of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Richard Tilt to Ms Janet Anderson, dated 22 November 1995: The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question asking how many prison officers have been given custodial sentences for drugs offences in each year since 1990, broken down by type of offence. The Prison Service has no record of any prison officer receiving a custodial sentence for drugs offences in any of the years in question.
