HC Deb 22 November 1995 vol 267 cc181-2W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will publish the results of his Department's study into the future of the Ministry of Defence police; [1648]

(2) what estimate he has made of the numbers to be employed in the Ministry of Defence police in each of the next five years; and if he will make a statement. [1649]

Mr. Soames

The overall manpower requirements of the Ministry of Defence police are kept under constant review. We will shortly be consulting the staff associations and trade unions concerned about proposals resulting from a number of studies on defence police and guarding requirements. Consultative documents will be put to them. I shall be sending copies to the House of Commons Defence Committee and to the hon. Members with particular consistency interests. I shall also place copies in the Library of the House.
