To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he will announce his decision on the future of Goole and rural Goole. [1846]

In light of the commission's recommendation and the representations I have received, I have decided to accept the commission's recommendation that there should be no change to the boundaries of Goole and rural Goole. As a consequence, the area will form part of the new east riding of Yorkshire authority provided for in the Humberside (Structural Change) Order 1995.
