HC Deb 20 November 1995 vol 267 cc35-6W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) what consultations he has had with the chairman of the Welsh Development Agency concerning the revenue shortfall in the land and buildings assets sales programme agreed with the agency; and if he will recalculate the grant-in-aid level to take account of the shortfall in(a) the remainder of this financial year and (b) 1996–97; [1053]

(2) if he will make a statement on the Welsh Development Agency's announcement of a suspension of all expenditure other than direct inward investment programmes for the remainder of the financial year. [1052]

Mr. Hague

I regularly meet the chairman of the Welsh Development Agency to discuss a wide range of issues.

The agency has decided to adjust its programmes in line with its priorities to take account of the lower than anticipated level of receipts this financial year.

Grant-in-aid to the agency for 1995–96 was determined last year along with my Department's commitments to other Welsh programmes. I will be announcing the position on all Welsh programmes for 1996–97 in December.
