§ Mr. Kynoch[holding answer 7 November 1995]: To date, there have been 17 private finance initiative contracts either completed or for which contracts have been let. Sixteen of these are health projects, with an estimated total capital value of £43.4 million; the other is the Skye bridge, the capital value of which is £15.6 million, excluding the cost of approach roads towards which a public sector contribution of £8 million was made.
The revenue cost to the public sector client of a PFI project is dependent on the achievement of contract specifications, which may include the level of usage of the facility concerned. Estimates of the future revenue payments for each health project are not held centrally.
