HC Deb 08 November 1995 vol 265 c954W
Mr. Bryan Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Education Employment what representations she has received regarding the education sponsored by Education Otherwise of pre-16 students in colleges of further education; and if she will make a statement. [41804]

Mr. Paice

The Secretary of State is aware that some parents who have exercised their right to educate their children otherwise than at school have sought places for them at further education colleges. It is for the individual FE college to determine whether or not to agree the placement, bearing in mind FEFC advice that pupils of compulsory school age should be admitted only in exceptional circumstances.

Mr. Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what is her Department's estimate of(a) the number of students and (b) the number of local authorities involved in the education, sponsored by Education Otherwise, of pre-16 students in colleges of further education. [41805]
