HC Deb 08 November 1995 vol 265 cc896-7W
Sir Keith Speed

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how much his Department has paid in(a) grant, (b) loan and (c) otherwise during the current year to European Passenger Services or British Rail to assist the operation of the Eurostar service. [41641]

Mr. Watts

To date no grant has been paid to European Passenger Services. EPS has an external financing requirement of about £143 million in the current year to date. This is funded by borrowing from the national loans fund. EPS was separated from British Rail on 9 May 1994 and has been funded separately from BR since that date.
