To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department if he will list the timetable for divorce(a) proposed for the United Kingdom and (b) currently applicable in other EU countries. [42159]

The White Paper proposal is that the minimum waiting period before a divorce decree can be applied for should be 12 months, provided arrangements for children, and financial and property matters have been decided.

The information requested about other European Union member states is currently being updated. I shall write to the hon. Member.
