To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list all plane crashes in United Kingdom airspace since 1980 giving the date and location of each crash and the types of aircraft involved [41442]

It is estimated that over 3,000 accidents involving civil aircraft have occurred in the United Kingdom since 1980. The vast majority of these were minor accidents involving light aircraft. A record of all reportable civil aviation accidents and incidents is held on a computer database by the Civil Aviation Authority. I have asked the chairman of the authority to write to the hon. Gentleman to establish his exact data requirement.
