HC Deb 07 November 1995 vol 265 c668W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Attorney-General when the Director of the Crown Prosecution Service expects to receive the transcripts of evidence to the inquest into the deaths which followed the sinking of the Marchioness; and when the Crown Prosecution Service will take a decision on whether to initiate a prosecution. [41951]

The Attorney-General

The Crown Prosecution Service expects to receive transcripts of the evidence given at the inquest within the next four weeks. Once they have been considered, and any further inquiries which may prove necessary have been completed, a decision on whether criminal proceedings should be instituted can be made. It is not yet possible to say when that stage will be reached.
