To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the cost to public funds of the farm woodland premium schemes in the years ended March 1993, 1994 and 1995; and what is the projected cost for each of the next two years. [40882]

Expenditure in Scotland on annual payments to farmers participating in the farm woodland scheme and farm woodland premium scheme in each of the last three financial years, estimated expenditure for the current year and the existing PES provision for next year, are shown in the table.
