To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many initiatives have been taken since June 1987 to deal with urban dereliction and inner-city decay in Sheffield by means of encouraging development and improvements to the city; if he will list each initiative, indicating the amounts expended under each heading; and if he will include grants which have been made to Sheffield, including all funding from European Union sources. Between 1 April 1987 and 31 March 1996, estimated, Sheffield metropolitan district will have benefited from approximately £262.688 million of grant funding from United Kingdom Government—Department of the Environment—and European Union sources for regeneration schemes. The amount for each initiative is set out in the table.
