To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list all private finance initiative proposals for the development of national health service hospitals; and if he will make a statement. [41622]

I refer the hon. and learned Member to the reply that I gave the hon. Member for Sheffield, Attercliffe (Mr. Betts) on 28 June,Official Report, column 690.

Since that reply, three further schemes with a capital value over £1 million have been approved under the private finance initiative, as follows:

  1. (1) NHS-wide clearing service; for exchange of activity data to support NHS contracts and to provide nationally required statistics. Capital value approximately £5.5 million.
  2. (2) Royal Berkshire and Battle NHS trust; for the provision of car parks, office accommodation, private patient wing, sympathetic retail outlets and leisure centre at a capital value of approximately £15 million.
  3. (3) Aintree Hospitals NHS trust; for the provision of a patient hotel conference and dining facility at a capital value of approximately £2.7 million.
