HC Deb 06 November 1995 vol 265 cc646-7W
26. Mr. Winnick

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what recent estimate he has made of the adequacy of the state retirement pension and income support to pensioners. [39710]

Mr. Heald

The value of the basic state retirement pension has been maintained in line with prices. Since 1988 pensioners receiving income-related benefits, including income support, have seen a real terms increase in benefit worth around £1.2 billion a year.
