HC Deb 06 November 1995 vol 265 cc592-3W
Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the revenue cost of running(a) Rinteln and (b) Wegberg military hospital in Germany in each of the last five years: and what the annual cost will be of replacement medical services provided by the Health Alliance. [40762]

Mr. Soames

The running costs for the British military hospital Rinteln and the RAF hospital Wegberg in the last five years, including an estimate of expenditure for the current financial year, are as follows:

RAF (H) Wegberg £ million BMH Rinteln
1991–92 10.7 9.2
1992–93 11.7 10.6
1993–94 12.2 13.2
1994–95 12.3 15.7
1995–96 12.5 16.6

It is not possible to give comparable figures for the replacement service as there will be a fundamental change in the method of provision of health care services and there will be overlap with other elements of the health care service in Germany.

Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how much money has been spent on capital projects at(a) Rinteln and (b) Wegberg military hospitals in Germany in each of the last five years. [40761]

Mr. Soames

There has been no capital expenditure at RAF hospital Wegberg in the last five years. Capital expenditure at the British military hospital Rinteln in the last five years, in deutschmark millions, was:

BMH Rinteln
1991–92 0
1992–93 0
1993–94 2.6
1994–95 0.3
1995–96 8.4

Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will place in the Library copies of(a) his Department's invitation to tender documents and (b) the service specification that forms part of the contract awarded to the Health Alliance for replacing the health services provided currently by the military hospitals at Rinteln and Wegberg. [40763]

Mr. Soames

A copy of the invitation to tender will be placed in the Library of the House. A copy of the statement of requirement—service specification—is already available in the Library of the House.
