§ Mr. Jonathan EvansThe Department received a number of representations about the Scottish and Newcastle/Courage merger including the future of the Home Brewery in Nottingham. In giving his advice to me on the merger, the Director General of Fair Trading took account of all relevant factors, as I did in making my decision on the case. Any information about the commercial operations of the parties supplied to the DOFF or myself under merger control procedures, including about the future of the Home Brewery, must remain confidential.
