§ Mr. HanleyWe condemn the attack by demonstrators on the Pakistan embassy in Kabul in September. We continue to support the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's special representative to broker a peace agreement. Permanent peace in Afghanistan will be achieved only if the major Afghan leaders and their supporters genuinely want it.
