Mr. Home Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what grants or other financial assistance have been awarded by the Scottish Office, in the financial year 1995–96, to organisations representing children with specific speech or language disorders; and what assistance has been given to organisations representing children with other physical disadvantages. Mr. Raymond S. Robertson

A range of organisations represent children with special educational needs, including children with physical disadvantages and also speech and language disorders. Funding has been given by the Scottish Office to the following organisations in this area in the current financial year.

Of the organisations listed in the current edition of a parents' guide to special educational needs, those shown have received funding from the Scottish Office in the current financial year. It is not possible to say what proportion of the funding shown is used by the organisations for provisions of advice or guidance to parents of children with special educational needs. Detailed information on that aspect is a matter for the individual organisation concerned.
