HC Deb 03 November 1995 vol 265 cc508-9W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners have been relocated to Doncaster because of disturbances at other establishments since Doncaster prison was opened; what was their grade; and if he will make a statement. [40950]

Miss Widdecombe

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the temporary Director General of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Richard Tilt to Mr. Martin Redmond, dated 3 November 1995:

The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the number of prisoners who have been relocated to Doncaster because of disturbances at other establishments since Doncaster prison was opened; their grade, and if he will make a statement.

Doncaster prison received a number of convicted prisoners from Everthorpe prison after a disturbance there on 2/3 January 1995. Doncaster has also received other individual prisoners involved in disturbances at other prisons, but these figures are not recorded locally or at Prison Service headquarters.
