§ Mr. Peter BottomleyTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the number of employment changes each year to parents of children eligible to child benefit. [41139]
§ Mrs. Angela KnightThe latest available estimates from the labour force survey show that in spring 1994 there were 9.3 million parents in Great Britain who were eligible to claim child benefit—with a child aged zero to 15 or 18 or under full-time education. Among those in this group who were in employment in both spring 1993 and spring 1994, 757,000 changed their employment at least once during the intervening period.
